Suspension / Cancellation of play guidelines
The Mount Osmond Golf Club provides the following guidelines for the modification, rescheduling or cancellation of play.
Extreme Temperature (Heat)
Heat stress increases with increases in air temperature but be aware that there are no clear demarcations in risk between temperature ranges. South Australia’s weather and thermal stress to individuals is much more a product of high ambient temperatures than humidity, therefore ambient temperature is being used as the major criterion for modification of events.
The Mount Osmond Golf Club Suspension / Cancellation of an Event may be authorised by any of the following:
• General Manager
• Club Professional
• Men’s & Women’s Captain and Match Committee
• Club Board
The forecast temperature is the estimated maximum for Stirling (Mt Lofty) as displayed on the Bureau of Meteorology website (www.bom.gov.au) at 5:00pm the evening prior to play.
When the weather is forecast to be greater than 36ºc degrees, the Club will advise members, guests and visitors of:
• The locations on the course where water is available.
• Recommend that they commence with a water (drink) bottle ahead of their round.
• Recommend hiring of a cart
• Wear a hat or use an umbrella
In periods of prolonged high forecast temperatures, the Club will on major competition days (where possible) look to open tee bookings earlier (from 6.30am) to allow golfers access to the course.
Junior Events including Competitions and Clinics
If the forecast temperature is 36ºc or greater all Junior events, competitions and clinics will be cancelled.
Twilight Competitions
If the forecast temperature is 38ºc or greater at 5pm the Twilight competition will be cancelled.
Club Competitions
If the forecast temperature is 38ºc or greater the golf course will remain open, with entry into any Club or daily competitions entirely voluntary after 9.30am.
Any change to an event or cancellation will be displayed on the club website and club notice boards. www.mogc.com.au
